Day 1, Friday: Departure Day

Departure day from USA to Istanbul.

Day 2, Saturday: Arrive Istanbul, Turkey

Arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, where you are met by name board and transfer to your Hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3, Sunday: Istanbul – F/D Old City Tour

Your day begins with a guided tour exploring the ancient city with highlights to include: Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet 1 built in 1616 that is famous for unequalled ceramic tiles. You walk across the famous Byzantine Hippodrome where gladiators had fought and chariots had raced. Serpentine Column, Obelisk of Theodosius and German Fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments decorating the Hippodrome. Your guide will take you to the Grand Covered Bazaar, the most attractive shopping center and the biggest "souk" in the world with nearly 4000 shops selling antiques, jewellery, gold, carpets, leatherware and souvenir. You will be guided through Topkapi Palace, the Imperial residence of the Ottoman Sultans between 15th-19th centuries. The 6 million square footpalace, the oldest and largest remaining in the world, housed more than 10,000 people and is loaded with extraordinary gold, silver and gem collections, a jeweled throne room and the remains of a 400-roomharem pavilion…(Harem section is not included in the program; if requested extra entrance fee is due) and Hagia (St.) Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as a basilica in the 6th century by the Emperor Justinian. Day 4, Monday: Istanbul-Gallipoli & Dardanelles-Canakkale

After breakfast head to Gallipoli. The World War I battlefields of Gallipoli are now a serene site. Visit the Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, ANZAC Cove, Johnston's Jolly and Kabatepe Gallipoli. Then you will pass over the Dardanelles by ferry and you will proceed to Canakkale. Overnight in Canakkale. (B,D)

Day 5, Tuesday: Canakkale-Troy & Pergamum - Kusadasi

After breakfast you will drive to Troy. Your guide will show you the immortal city of the legendary Helen of Troy and of the Trojan horse which was destroyed and rebuilt nine times. After the visit you will proceed to Pergamum. The ancient town of Pergamum was one of the most important centers of culture and artsof its time. Your guide will escort first to the Acropolis, and see the Temple of Athena, the library, the Royal Palaces, the Temple of Trojan, the steepest theater of the world, the Temple of Dionysos, the Altar of Zeus which was referred to in the Bible as "Satan's Seat." Pergamum was a great center of scholarship and learning. Anthony took the library with its 200,000 rolls and transferred it to Alexandria as a present for Cleopatra. Then you visit Asclepion, an amazing ancient medical center. The ruins here are so complete that walking among them one can relive the methods employed in this health center, from sacrifice to psychodrama… Travel along the Aegean coast to Kusadasi and overnight in Kusadasi. Day 6, Wednesday: Kusadasi-Ephesus-Kusadasi

After breakfast, you head for nearby Efes (Ephesus), where you spend a busy day visiting the spectacular ruins of Ephesus, including the Marble Street, the largest ancient theater in the world, recently excavated monuments, the temple of Hadrian, the Celsus Library and hillside palaces. Then you will visit the House of Virgin Mary. Mother Mary, accompanied by John the Apostle, came to Ephesus at the end of her life. In 1967, Pope Paul VI declared the site authentic and each year a traditional service is held for the pilgrims. Next visit is to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, which was once one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Overnight in Kusadasi. (B,D)

Day 7, Thursday: Kusadasi-Pamukkale

After breakfast proceed to Pamukkale “the Cotton Castle”, once known as Hierapolis, famous for healing thermal-mineral baths and beautiful snow-white “petrified waterfalls”. You will admire the view of pure-white enormous basins and stalactites created by millions of years of mineral-rich hot spring waters spilling down the hillside. After lunch, visit Hierapolis, including the magnificently preserved Necropolis, the Main Street and Gates, the Thermal Baths, the Devil's Hole, and the Masterpiece Theater. Overnight in Pamukkale. Day 8, Friday: Pamukkale – Kbyra – Sagalassos – Antalya

After breakfast drive to Kbyra. Possibly originally settled by Lydians, it is also the place where, according the Strabo, the Lydian language still being spoken among a multicultural population around his time (1st century BC), thus making Kibyra the last locality where the culture, by then extinct in Lydia proper according to extant accounts, is attested. You will proceed then to Sagalassos on Mount Akdag, a spur of the Western Toros range, at an altitude of between 1450 and 1700 meters. Sagalassos, is the city of loves, desires and the most favorite city of the emperors. The city located on the foothills of the Taurus will be see by you again and again. At the entrance of the city houses, below the city baths, down the city the Agora (marketplace) and the ceramic production center welcomes you. A dense population a culture city Sagalassos up in the agora heated political talks, powerful Roman emperors commands will be heard from the Senate, the Macellum, the boutiques and marketplace. Lovers drinking water from Antonine fountain and getting lost in each other’s eyes will perpetuate you a nice feeling. After the tour transfer to Antalya. Overnight in Antalya. (B,D)

Day 9, Saturday: Antalya - Perge – Aspendos - Antalya

Afterbreakfastyouwilldriveto discover the ancient Hellenistic and Roman treasures, including the unspoiled ruins of Perge, the magnificently preserved 15,000 person theater of Aspendos. Overnight in Antalya. (B,D)

Day 10, Sunday: Antalya-Istanbul

Today you will flight to Istanbul and you can enjoy the free afternoon or join an optional half day tour. Overnight in Istanbul. (B)

Day 11, Monday: Istanbul departure

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
