Day 1, Wednesday: Departure Day

Departure day from USA for Istanbul.

Day 2, Thursday: Arrive Istanbul, Turkey

Arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, where you are met by name board and transfer to your Hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3, Friday: Istanbul – F/D Old City Tour

Your day begins with a guided tour exploring the ancient city with highlights to include: Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet 1 built in 1616 that is famous for unequalled ceramic tiles. You walk across the famous Byzantine Hippodrome where gladiators had fought and chariots had raced. Serpentine Column, Obelisk of Theodosius and German Fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments decorating the Hippodrome. Your guide will take you to the Grand Covered Bazaar, the most attractive shopping center and the biggest "souk" in the world with nearly 4000 shops selling antiques, jewellery, gold, carpets, leatherware and souvenir. You will be guided through Topkapi Palace, the Imperial residence of the Ottoman Sultans between 15th-19th centuries. The 6 million square footpalace, the oldest and largest remaining in the world, housed more than 10,000 people and is loaded with extraordinary gold, silver and gem collections, a jeweled throne room and the remains of a 400-roomharem pavilion… (Harem section is not included in the program; if requested extra entrance fee is due) and Hagia (St.) Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as a basilica in the 6th century by the Emperor Justinian. Overnight in Istanbul. (B)

Day 4, Saturday: Istanbul – Cappadocia

Morning flight to Kayseri, where you will drive from the airport to Red Valley first and explore the famous rock-cut churches and hike 5 km through the Gulludere Valley. After you visit Cavusin, famous for the houses and churches of the Christian clergymen, your guide will lead you into the ancient Underground City of Kaymakli, the maze of tunnels and dwelling chambers for 5,000 inhabitants and their animals dug during the 7th and 8th centuries and descending 7 stories underground. Overnight in Cappadoccia. (B,D)

Day 5, Sunday: F/D Cappadocia Tour

After breakfast start touring marvel at the unique fairy chimneys in the Devrent Valley; then you visit to Pasabag (also known as Monk’s Valley), to see the fascinating mushroom shaped pinnacles. After Avanos visit, your guide will escort you to the ancient rock-cut churches and Christian settlements of the Goreme open air museum. The last stop of this tour will be the Ucguzeller fairy chimneys. Overnight in Cappadocia. (B,D)

Day 6, Monday: Cappadocia-Konya-Pamukkale

After breakfast transfer to Pamukkale. Enroute is Konya, the famous city for being the location of Rumi's tomb; you visit The Mausoleum of Mevlana, before proceeding on to Hierapolis and the unique geological formations of Pamukkale, where you stay at a hotel with a pool heated by natural thermal waters. Overnight in Pamukkale. (B,D)

Day 7, Tuesday: Pamukkale-Kusadasi

After breakfast you will admire the morning view of pure-white enormous basins and stalactites created by millions of years of mineral-rich hot spring waters spilling down the hillside. Your guide will take you to Hierapolis, including the magnificently preserved Necropolis, the Main Street and Gates, the Thermal Baths, the Devil's Hole, and the Masterpiece Theater. Then, after a two-hour drive through the scenic Meander Valley, you arrive the Aegean coast resort town of Kusadasi. Overnight in Kusadasi. (B,D)

Day 8, Wednesday: Kusadasi-Ephesus-Kusadasi

After breakfast, you head for nearby Efes (Ephesus), where you spend a busy day visiting the spectacular ruins of Ephesus, including the Marble Street, the largest ancient theater in the world, recently excavated monuments, the temple of Hadrian, the Celsus Library and hillside palaces. Then you will visit the House of Virgin Mary. Mother Mary, accompanied by John the Apostle, came to Ephesus at the end of her life. In 1967, Pope Paul VI declared the site authentic and each year a traditional service is held for the pilgrims. Next visit is to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, which was once one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Overnight in Kusadasi. (B,D)

Day 9, Thursday:Kusadasi- Pergamum-Troy-Canakkale

After breakfast you will drive to Pergamum. The ancient town of Pergamum was one of the most important centers of culture and artsof its time. Your guide will escorte first to the Acropolis, and see the Temple of Athena, the library, the Royal Palaces, the Temple of Trojan, the steepest theater of the world, the Temple of Dionysos, the Altar of Zeus which was referred to in the Bible as "Satan's Seat." Pergamum was a great center of scholarship and learning. Anthony took the library with its 200,000 rolls and transferred it to Alexandria as a present for Cleopatra. Then you visit Asclepion, an amazing ancient medical center. The ruins here are so complete that walking among them one can relive the methods employed in this health center, from sacrifice to psychodrama. The last stop today will beTroy, the immortal city of the legendary Helen of Troy and of the Trojan horse which was destroyed and rebuilt nine times. Overnight in Canakkale. (B,D)

Day 10, Friday: Canakkale -Gallipoli-Istanbul

After breakfast you will head to Gallipoli over the Dardanelles by ferry. The World War battlefields of Gallipoli are now a serene site. Visit the Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, ANZAC Cove, Johnston's Jolly and Kabatepe Gallipoli. Then you will proceed to Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul. (B)

Day 11, Saturday: Istanbul departure

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
